Electric Motor Design

Upgrade your 3D printing abilities with a functional BLDC motor. Learn mechanical design including how to select and implement various hardware like, bearings, O-rings and rotary shafts. Assemble coils which will produce real Rotating Magnetic Fields capable of spinning your motor over 2000rpms. Understand the basics of electromagnetics and their uses in real life.

This course is heavily based in Mechanical Design using the CAD software, Fusion 360. A free trial of the software is available for download which will be sufficient to complete the course. Building the motor will require additional purchases of hardware, electronics and tools. You will also need a 3D Printer or access to one.

This project is good for Engineers wishing to expand their portfolio projects; students and homeschooling parents looking to create a fun project together; hardcore hobbyists ready to upgrade the usefulness of their 3D printer. More lessons coming soon to expand on these subjects. No prior experience is necessary but a light technical background will help.
